The following text is from a letter dated October 30, 1920 sent by the French Consul in Chicago to the Assyrian community church leader, the late Rev. Paul Newey. This letter provides a list of Assyrian Levy soldiers who were awarded the Croix De Geurre for their efforts during WWI. The awards were given on September 11, 1920.

Le Ministre de la Guerre cite a l'order de l'armee les officers de l'armee assyro-chaldeanne dont les noms suivant: Brilliante oonduite au cours des operations de 1916-1917, co'ntre Les aremees turques.
